What is Pigmentation ?
People consider pigmentation treatment when their skin colour is affected by simply aging, environmental damage or uv damage.
Your overall skin tone is made up by the pigment called melanin. When cells become unhealthy or damaged, it affects the melanin production.
Some pigmentation disorders affect a small proportion of skin. Others affect your entire body.
A person with albinism may have no colour or lighter than usual skin colour, or patchy missing skin colour in different areas.
it is thought that the majority of people suffer with areas or small patches of hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation on some area of their body.
Pigmentation is often be the result of UV damage, nuisance sun damaged areas tend to pop up years after the excessive sun or sunbed damage, common areas affected are the forehead, face, shoulders ,decolletage and hands. This problem affects both men and women.
Other common causes of pigmentation problems include:
- Hormonal changes
